National Association of Local Councils Star Awards

National Association of Local Councils announced its Star Council Award winners at a dazzling ceremony held on 29 November 2023 at the prestigious House of Lords in which two of Corby Town Councillors were shortlisted and attended.

Leader of the Council Mark Pengelly was nominated for Councillor of the year and Callum Reilly for Young Councillor of the year. Tom Pursglove MP also attended to show his support for the Corby Town nominees.

The event brought together other councillors, clerks, MPs, parliamentarians, academics, national stakeholders and leading opinion formers to honour the individuals and organisations that had demonstrated exceptional talent, innovation, and dedication in supporting their communities.

This was not only a celebration of achievements but an opportunity for the sector to network, collaborate, and inspire one another and although the two councillors did not win on this occasion, it was a huge achievement and highlighted the work Corby Town Council has achieved since only being established in 2021.

Leader of the Council Mark Pengelly said “The Star Council Awards have become a hallmark occasion in recognising and celebrating the achievements of local (parish and town) councils so I am extremely grateful that myself and my colleague Callum Reilly were nominated and shortlisted for these awards. Congratulations to all the other nominees and winners”
