As part of the celebrations this year, Mayor Leanne Buckingham was thrilled to be invited as one of the guests of honour along with Major Ian McDavid MBE to The Grampians annual St Andrews night feast held on 24th November. The evening commenced with the VIP guests being piped in by Major Rob Muir. A dinner of traditional steak pie was followed by cranachan, fabulous entertainment by Grampians highland dancers and pipes and drums, followed by the band Point Blank and disco.
Major Ian McDaid MBE quoted “The Chairman, Mr Ian Boyle, Cllr McEwan and all committee members displayed great warmth and generosity in their hospitality making us feel very honoured and hugely impressed to be part of the evening. As a fellow Scotsman living in England, it’s not often I can say that I felt I was amongst friends and at home. When Highland Cathedral was played it really was a special moment to be entertained by musicians who have world champions in their ranks was a real gift.
Mayor Buckingham said ‘It’s been an honour to have been able to enjoy this event for the last two years as deputy mayor and this year as Mayor. To see so many people in the town come together and enjoy the Scottish Heritage that has helped to form the spirit of Corby, is a joy. Next year, we hope to see the hall full with guests to mark this important date. At midnight, breakfast is served so that you can go to bed on a full stomach after a few wee drams.’
