Partnership work on Great Oakley lights

Councillors have helped deliver improved lighting for a pathway in Great Oakley.

Solar bollard lights will be installed along the path linking the Lewin Road area to the Spread Eagle pub – a long time request of local residents.

The Mayor of Corby has visited the U3A group at Great Oakley Village Hall to give a talk about her role.

The U3A is an abbreviation of "University of the Third Age" -supported by the national group the Third Age Trust, it is a movement is for people who have ceased full time employment and family commitments, enabling them to meet new people, plus learn and share skills and experiences.

Town Councillors hear of Foodbank's work

Corby Town Councillors have heard about the vital work for the community by volunteers at the town's Foodbank.

The facility's manager, Martin Langford, gave a presentation at the Full Council meeting held on Tuesday September 12th.

Councillors heard that in an average year the town's foodbank receives donations totalling 30,000 kilos and in 2020 some 50,000 kilos were donated.

On Wednesday 16th August, Mayor Leanne Buckingham along with other town councillors, presented Corby Town FC with a cheque for £2k after they were awarded a community grant to purchase equipment and aid with initial running costs to supply the community of Corby with well organised walking football.

Corby Town Council will be situated on a market stall in the town center opposite Poundland to collect items for Corby Food Bank between 10am and 2.30pm

Items the Food Bank have said they are currently short of are -

- Tinned Vegetables

- Tinned Meat

- Tinned Fish

- Biscuits

- Coffee

Please drop off any items you can spare and they will all be delivered to the Food Bank on Friday afternoon to help families... Read More »
