Corby Town Council has a new Mayor!

Corby Town Council elected a new Mayor at their annual town council meeting held on Monday 9th May. The outgoing Mayor, Councillor Lawrence Ferguson presented Councillor Tafadzwa Chikoto with the chains of office which were transferred to the Town Council in April 2021. The chains of office include the crest of Corby which are 'Deeds not words'. Members of the Mayor's family were in attendance along with members of the public at the ceremony held in the Corby Cube Chamber. The new Mayor said his priority would be helping enhance the lives of young people and raising money for his chosen charity which is Lakelands Hospice. The Deputy Mayor was also appointed at the meeting, Councillor Leanne Buckingham. She is keen to support the Mayor in his role and is also actively engaged in improving opportunities for young people.
