Holocaust Memorial Day 2024

Holocaust Memorial Day 2024

An event organised by Corby Town Council was held on Saturday January 27, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The international day of commemoration remembers the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and genocides since World War Two in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

This year the theme of "Fragility of Freedom" was explored in an event at the Council Chamber in the Corby Cube attended by the public, invited guests and councillors.

Following a guest speaker, Deputy Mayor Ross Armour gave an address to mark 30 years since the genocide in Rwanda and a film relating to this genocide was shown.

The youth musical group Oakley Rangers performed and those attending took part in a silent period of reflection.
